Custom Kicks – Nike Air Max 90 Buffalo Weave

Nike Air Max - Buffalo Weave Nike Air Max – Buffalo Weave

JG Customs originally debuted these a few months ago at a Nike iD event. The Nike Air Max 90s [nicknamed 'Buffalo Weave'] features a clean pattern of burgundy and Carolina blue. The execution is so clean that it is almost as if the base shoe, a white on white Air Max 90 with a red midsole, never existed.

Custom Kicks – The Hundreds Nike Dunk High

hundredsdunks
Jest3r, a popular customizer around the internet made these Hundreds inspired dunks as a part of a contest going on right now. These multi-colored beauties are not only super creative, but the re construction is beautiful. In some recent commentary on Sole Collector, he made the mention that he was focused more on comfort than function, and sacrificing the traditional factory look was worth it. I am still unsure how I feel about the half swoosh, but then again, with the inclusion of the traditional Hundred’s bomb, I believe it would’ve been too much. Personally, I am wondering if these will show up in their store any time soon. via Jest3r.net

Custom Kicks – BlackYard Butcher AF1s.

Custom Kicks - BlackYard Butcher AF1s.

BlackYard created a pair of haute charcuterie Air Force 1s for the 2009 Art Clash event. Resembling a butcher cut of meat, these AF1’s are more like a piece of art than a wearable shoe. The detailing of the muscle structure is fantastic.

Custom Kicks – Aquateen Hunger Force Dunk High.

01
Based on the opening sequence of Aquateen Hunger Force, these dunks were inspired by Meatwad’s dancing. The characters themselves are glossy, while the background is matte, having them appear extra animated. With the inner checks also being glossed, as well and the brown toecap, it creates a spark with the shoes hit the light. This particular pair comes with four sets of laces [brown, yellow, red, and coral] and a custom box featuring the Mooninites wrecking havoc in their living room. The overall design is a little busy [for my taste] to be worn daily, however, as a piece of art, or a collectible they are AMAZING.

Custom Kicks – Puma Hot Tub Clydes

Custom Kicks - Puma Hot Tub Clydes Custom Kicks – Puma Hot Tub Clydes

There haven’t been a pair of Pumas featured in the Customs section for quite some time, so I thought I’d bring these around and see what you all thought. Rob L. created these for an upcoming film, ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ scheduled for release in 2010 [starring John Cusack, Lizzy Caplan, and Crispin Glover]. I am not sure, but I think these may be the first pair of customs in a film, with the exception of Back to the Future?
Anyhow, these Puma’s were stripped down and re-coated with a wet-fade black to grey blend. Black Archipelago pattern went over the blend, and grey over the stripe.

Custom Kicks – Carbon Fiber Nike Dunk Lows.

carbon2
I was recently sent pictures of these Nike Dunk Lows from a sneakerhead who is not new to collecting, but new to constructing. Choosing a common model to customize, the Nike Dunk Low, he decided to go with an unusual combination of fabrics; carbon fiber and under armor. Completely unstitching the leather, he did a complete overlay with the easily pliable carbon fiber [which is a material known to be hard to destruct]. He then created an inner lining similar to the look of a kids shoe using under armor [to give the wearer complete comfort]. While not visually exciting, these are definitely one of the most functional customs I’ve seen in a while.

Custom Kicks – A Yankee Gone Nike Dunk High

3860958172_dbe094ac5b
As a collaboration with Eye Candy, this custom Dunk High was themed around the Yankees Away jersey; a template of colors that is consistently repeated in fashion. Using a matte gray all over the upper, a clean black tongue with a digital camo print in the mid, the colors tie together perfectly. Right above the toe box you can see the New York Yankees branding, as well as a 26 in place of a tongue tag. The staggered 26 has multiple means, one being the number of World Series the Yankees have won, with the tiled background representing the hope of the number disappearing [and being replaced with a 27]. Similar to the Negro League releases, the stitching all mirrors baseball stitching, which is one of the great details of this release. Another detail that you may not notice is the numbering on the heel, above the city skyline, letting the world know that this is a 1 of 1 Limited Run.

Custom Kicks – Nike Air Max 90 Andy Warhol/Marilyn Monroe

Typically the customs that we feature are done specifically for the gentleman, but today, we have a special edition that might appeal to the ladies. This Air Max 90 was inspired by the infamous Andy Warhol painting of Marilyn Monroe. As one of the most recognized pop art paintings around, the images are memorialized around the base and midsole of this all white sneaker, using tons of colors and contrasting black laces and tongue tag.

Revive customs takes the classic Nike SB ‘What the Dunk?’ and incorporates the theme on Air Jordans. Yeah The Spiz’ike is doing something kind of similar with the “Fresh Since 1985” sneaker but it is not quite like this. The sneaker combines the VIIIs, IIIs, Xs and others on the I silhouette. Hopefully soon we can give you guys info on how you can buy these very creative customs.
